To commence training with Novaskill you need to complete an application for Enrolment Form. This form records your personal details, contact information and your training history. The content is required by law to assist governments to plan for future training needs and to generate statistics of the training that takes place in Australia.
If you are a Trainee you will also be required to complete a National Training Contract that formally registers your training with the State Training Services (NSW) or Queensland Department of Education and Training. This is a binding legal contract involving you, your employer and the state government. Your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) representative will assist you in completing this form. All traineeships involve a financial contribution towards the cost of tuition and resources.
It is essential that you are familiar with Novaskill policies and procedures and the student handbook. Your student handbook is your guide to all aspects of your training and provides details of the assessment process plus other forms and documents that will assist you with your learning. These documents can be access below in the Important Student Documents section below.
Students are able to study online, in classrooms or in real or simulated workplaces. For information regarding study formats of specific courses, please visit Our Courses.
When studying with Novaskill, you will have access to your own training and assessor. This support may be available face-to-face, via phone, email or our online portal.

Where possible our team will access your eligibility for government funded programs and subsidies to assist in reducing your fees. Please contact your local Novaskill branch for specific information and a quote for your training.

QLD students may have training funded by the Queensland Government under the VET Investment Plan.
International students are not eligible for funding.

All students studying at Novaskill need a USI. So what is it and how do I get one?
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number made up of numbers and letters that gives students access to their USI account. A USI will allow an individual’s USI account to be linked to the National Vocational Education and Training (VET) Data Collection allowing an individual to see all of their training results from all providers including all completed training units and qualifications.
The USI will make it easier for students to find and collate their VET achievements into a single authenticated transcript. It will also ensure that students’ VET records are not lost.
The USI will be is available online and at no cost to the student. This USI will stay with the student for life and be recorded with any nationally recognised VET course that is completed from when the USI comes into effect on 1 January 2015.
A student needs a USI when enrolling or re-enrolling in nationally recognised training from 1 January 2015. This includes if the student is enrolling for the first time, for example, if they are studying at TAFE or with a private training organisation, completing an apprenticeship or skill set, certificate or diploma course. It also applies to students continuing or completing (re-enrolling) training, including nationally recognised training undertaken in secondary school.
When applying for a USI, students will be required to supply one of the following valid forms of identification:
- Driver’s Licence
- Medicare Card,
- Australian Passport
- Visa (with Non-Australian Passport)
- Australian Birth Certificate
- Certificate of Registration by Descent
- Citizenship Certificate
