Library Assistant Traineeship

The Opportunity

Novaskill has partnered with Northern Beaches Council to offer a Library Assistant Traineeship including on-the-job training with ongoing mentoring and support to help you achieve your career goals and unleash your true potential.

You’ll complete a Certificate III in Library and Information Services whilst working with the Library Services team over 12 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation and practical on-the-job experience at the Northern Beaches Council Library Services Team.

The Role

  • Earn money while you gain a nationally recognised qualification
  • Assist with customer service duties to support the effective operation of the library
  • Assist in the delivery of programs, events and exhibitions to support contemporary, community-focused and innovative library services
  • support collection management tasks to support the provision of relevant and engaging collections
  • Support the administration tasks and projects as required to contribute to ongoing innovation and business improvements
  • Maintain an appropriately shelved and today, well-presented branch supporting a positive and engaging user experience

About You

  • Understanding of administrative functions
  • Have strong computer literacy, including Microsoft
  • Have time management, attention to detail, planning and organisational skills
  • Show the ability to work as part of a team and share knowledge
  • Willingness to develop an understanding of continuous learning principles, equal employment opportunities, workplace health and safety, and ethical practice principles
  • Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Council’s values of: Trust, Teamwork, Respect, Service, Integrity and Leadership
  • Ability to act in a confidential and sensitive manner at all times
  • Be willing to complete the study to gain the qualification
  • Hold a current Working With Children Check
