Novaskill is a not-for-profit Registered Training and Group Training Organisation with over 45 years of experience. With 6 locations from Northern NSW to the Central Coast, we deliver high-quality training in areas such as Business, Hospitality, Construction, Carpentry, Aged Care, disability, and Individual Support.

What is the Role?

As Novaskill’s Finance Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the organisation’s finance function. This includes overseeing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, preparing accurate reports, and providing clear, strategic advice to senior leadership. You will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support Novaskill’s growth and long-term sustainability.

This role is suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys leading a small team, improving financial systems and processes, and contributing to the overall success of a purpose-driven organisation.

Responsibilities Include:

In this role, you’ll take ownership of Novaskill’s financial management and provide guidance that supports both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy. You’ll lead a small, dedicated team and work closely with senior leaders to ensure financial stability, compliance, and growth.

  • Lead the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial operations
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and debt collection functions
  • Manage end-of-month and end-of-year reconciliations and reporting
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis
  • Ensure compliance with ATO, ASIC, and other regulatory bodies
  • Work closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making
  • Implement process improvements and internal controls

About You:

You’ll bring tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and at least five years’ experience in finance or accounting, including two years in a leadership role. With a solid understanding of Australian accounting standards, payroll requirements, and financial systems, you’re confident managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Your strong analytical skills, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal ability, will ensure you can lead effectively and provide valuable insights across the organisation.
