What do I do if I want to employ an apprentice or Trainee?
As a Group Training Organisation, Novaskill will take care of the entire process of employing an apprentice or trainee. Prior to your apprentice/trainee commencing, you will be required to sign a Hosting Agreement. This Agreement outlines responsibilities of being a Host Employer under the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act in your State or Territory.
Choosing to invest in an apprentice or trainee can have enormous financial benefits for your business.
Potential tax deductions
Generally a fee paid to a GTO in order to obtain the services of an apprentice or trainee to work in the host employer’s business is an allowable deduction to the employer under section 8-1 of the ITAA 1997. The essential character of the expenditure is of a revenue nature and there is an objective commercial explanation for the whole of the expenditure.
