About the position
Novaskill are seeking candidates to undertake an apprenticeship in metal fabrication.
On offer to the successful applicant is a 4 year full time apprenticeship, where you will be required to undertake a MEM30305 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade facilitated by a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation with on-the-job training provided to you by one of our host employers all whilst earning a competitive wage. The duties of a Metal Fabrication Apprentice can include:
- Assisting tradespeople as needed
- Grinding and welding a wide range of metal materials
- Maintaining, repairing, and re-building machinery, conveyor belts and/or moulds
- Actively participating in required training and education programs
- Use tools such as: vices, hydraulic presses and rolling machines, or forge metals to shape or bend
- General workshop duties such as manual handling
- Participating in heavy to light fabrication work on trucks and light vehicles
Who we’re looking for
The candidates that we are looking for is a fast-paced worker who enjoys hard work and has an enthusiasm to learn. Working as part of a team from the ground up, you will have a professional and confident manner, high attention to detail and accuracy in work completed, and the ability to multitask and prioritise. A strong, mature work ethic is essential, but most of all we are looking for an independent thinker who has a great personality and a passion for the trade – the person we are looking for will have the right attitude for the role and must be willing to go the extra mile to impress. A current driver’s license (preferably manual) and own vehicle is essential.
In addition, you will have:
- Driver’s licence and reliable transport essential
- Demonstrated interest and passion for the trade
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Commitment to the full term of the apprenticeship and study requirements
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
