About the position
One of our Newcastle host employers are seeking Apprentices to join the team with a start date of November 2021. This is an exciting opportunity to begin your career and gain exposure to one of Australia’s most unique steel making facilities.
We are currently seeking CNC Machinist Apprentices.
When you’re not at TAFE learning the technicalities of your trade, you’ll be on site putting what you’ve learnt into practice with computerised machinery creating parts using technology with 3d modelling, CNC Machining, precision fitting and toolmaking are all part of the job.
During the 4 year program, you’ll be able to draw upon the experience of your team and be mentored by experienced tradespersons and engineers to make sure your career starts in the best way.

Who we’re looking for
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Driver’s license and reliable transport essential as you will need to be able to commute daily to site and/or TAFE when required
- Have completed Year 10 as a minimum
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- High level of organisational skills
- Ability to perform a pre-employment medical assessment
- Safety focused, team orientated and have good interpersonal skills

Please note that this apprenticeship will require you to work with 3D modelling, CNC Machines and computers. This apprenticeship is different compared to a normal mechanical trade.

They are established under training contracts between the employer and the apprentice or trainee and are regulated by the Government.
